Kalapathar Beach in Andaman Islands

The Kalapathar beach is situated on one corner of Havelock Island. The beach gets its name from the surrounding village called Kalapathar Village and the black rocks (Kalapathar Rocks) that adorn the coastline here. It is situated on one corner of Havelock and is a continuation of beach No. 5. The beach can get a bit crowded in high season, but if you walk further to the south you’ll find yourself completely alone.

Kalapathar is a village in the Bankura district, West Bengal, India. It is 45 km from Bankura. It is near the Shilabati River, the channel from Mukutmanipur and a small unnamed stream. Kadamdeuli Dam is situated on the west just 3 km away.The Kalapathar beach is situated on one corner of Havelock Island. But, if you happen to go here, do exercise caution while entering the waters as the locals warn of the sharp rocks and the strong currents beyond.But, There is a small lodging path trough the green jungle, where once was an elephant training camp, but nowadays all you’ll find is a secluded beach. The water is deep enough to swim and it is not affected by tides. There are some rocks and corals so do take care while going into the water. Kalapathar offers couple of umbrellas and wooden chairs. There is also a small picnic area with trash bins set in the shade of the trees. In season locals sell fresh coconuts and mango juices, but there are no other facilities.
